Board Member Job Description

Our mission at Momentum Northwest is to create a community-supported cross-country ski program for Seattle area youth while honoring our core values of personal growth, leadership/mentoring, team building, community building, commitment to excellence, and fun. 

Momentum Northwest believes that what we teach to the youth of the Seattle area goes beyond simply learning to ski. Taking athletes into the out-of-doors and into the mountains in all seasons, we are introducing to them the ethics of individual accountability, lifelong health, and a balance of sport and nature, which few other pursuits can provide.

Board members help Momentum Northwest in supporting and promoting our mission and goals. 

Role of the Board:
The Board of Momentum Northwest is a group of committed volunteers, parents, and skiers who work together to build a community dedicated to youth Nordic ski racing and advance Momentum Northwest’s Mission.  As a “working board”, each member of the Board takes on critical leadership and volunteer roles to make Momentum Northwest run.

Board Responsibilities:

·        Determining the mission and purposes of the organization

·        Strategic and organizational planning

·        Ensuring strong financial oversight and management

·        Fundraising and resource development

·        Monitoring and helping to run the organizations programs and services

·        Enhancing the organizations public image

 

Current Projects the Board is Undertaking Include: 

·        Our club mission

·        Program growth and expansion

·        Diversity, equity, and inclusion 

Time commitment: 
Board members meet once a month for 90 minutes.  Board members typically spend 1-2 hours per week on board, committee or volunteer work related to the club. Each member serves 3- year, renewable terms.
