Momentum Northwest has grown and benefits from an army of volunteer coaches. All of our coaches undergo background checks and U.S. Safesport training.

Tom Echelberger- Program Director/ Head Coach

Tom came to us from the East Coast. He began coaching with Hopkinton Middle School and Team New Hampshire. As an athlete, Tom competed for the National Guard Elite Biathlon team, representing the US Armed Forces at the World Military Ski Championships in Nordic Sking and Skimo. Tom currently holds a U.S. Ski and Snowboard L100 coaching license.

Tom’s coaching philosophy is to teach sustainable, process-based goal-setting, determination, and drive through the backdrop of training for and participating in cross-country ski racing. I believe that getting to the starting line and understanding the processes leading to our results are the true measures of success. If we master the process, refine the technique, and teach sound goal-setting, we will shape our athletes as skiers for life.

Stacey Marion: High School Assistant Coach

Stacey has been involved with ski coaching for 6 years, and this year will be her fourth with Momentum Northwest as a high school-focused coach and board member!Prior to living in the Seattle area she was a junior coach and board member with MadNorSki (Madison, Wisconsin). Her coaching philosophy is to help juniors develop a life-long connection with sport and outdoor activity. She strives to help juniors achieve a high level of sport in line with their internal motivation. Of course we love skiing, but skiing is just one way to explore self-discovery and strive for athletic and technical growth.

Adam Tuff: Yeti Lead Coach

Adam started skiing in the 8th grade in the south suburbs of Minneapolis. He trained with the high school team in the winter, and Minnesota Valley (now Loppet Nordic Racing) in the summers. Adam worked as a wax tech during his time at Michigan Tech. He has been coaching with Momentum Northwest since 2022, and is still participating in citizen's races.

Adam believes in challenge by choice, and skiing should be fun for all. The most important part of any team is getting out to ski with friends, and building relationships along the way. Most of the learning and improvement will happen passively. Goal setting is an important part of training and development. Learning to set goals and overcome challenges will help young skiers develop ski and life skills.
