Youth Winter Program 2018-19
Registration at bottom of page

Momentum Northwest's Winter program is designed for skiers ages 12-18 and includes all levels of experience, from new skiers to athletes looking to podium at Junior Nationals. Our Head Coach, Zach, and his assistant coaches make sure all skiers get the age and ability appropriate attention they need.

We train on the roads, mountains, and trails surrounding Seattle, including: Snoqualmie Pass, the Issaquah Alps, PCT, Preston, North Bend, Fall City, Mt Rainier, Methow Valley, and many more! There is always opportunity for participating in the camps and races which are held throughout Washington and Oregon.

Participant fees include all coaching, plus wax and logistical support at races. Fees also include transportation for Comp and Devo participants. Race Trip Expenses are not part of our participant fees, since not everyone goes to all races. Our participant fees are made to be as reasonable as possible while allowing sustainable programming.

Momentum Groups

Our training groups are formed to bring together kids of similar ages and abilities, but final placement is based on individual needs of the athletes and coaches' discretion. Groups will train in the same locations. Unsure of what group is right for you? Contact Zach.

November 6 to March 16

We build base endurance and strength following a Periodized Training Schedule. Final placement depends on athletes' needs and coaches' discretion. In order to ensure skiers' goals and to follow a Long-Term Development plan appropriately, it is recommended that participants of this group attend all 19 weeks, and 80%+ attendance is advised. Typically our meeting locations are the Mercer Island Park and Ride (MIPR) and the Montlake Community Center, though locations may be changed or added as needed. From these locations we venture out into the wilds surrounding Seattle. Cabin Creek is our main ski center during the winter.

Until the snow starts flying we meet at Montlake for practice. However, once there’s enough snow to ski we use Montlake as our pickup point before taking the van up to Cabin Creek.

There are many established carpools that can help you get to the Mercer Island Park and Ride. Please let us know if you need assistance getting there.

US Ski and Snowboard is the governing body for Skiing in the United States. As a US Ski and Snowboard (USS) Club all of our participants need to be at least USS General Members.

If you are planning on racing Junior National Qualifiers this year you will need to register as a USS member for your age group.

We encourage all of our skiers to join the team at races. These take place throughout the season and are geared towards new and experienced skiers alike. Because Nordic Skiing is a small but growing sport in Seattle, going to races is the best way for our skiers to experience the wider Nordic world and expand their horizons beyond Cap Hill.

Please visit the Races and Results page for more information about upcoming races. If you’d like to learn more about Races, please see our Resources page linked below.
