Youth Winter Program 2017- 2018

Momentum's Winter Program runs from November 7th to March 10th, which gives our skiers a good 16 weeks of fun-filled skiing! Our program is designed for skiers ages 12-18 and includes all levels of experience, from new skiers to athletes looking to podium at Junior Nationals. Our Head Coach, Zach, and his team of volunteers make sure all skiers get the age- and ability-appropriate attention they need.

  • We train 5 days per week, three of which are on snow -the other two are closer to Seattle, and therefore are dryland practices.

  • Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday are on-snow sessions.

  • Tuesday and Thursday are dryland training.

  • Weekday practices meet at the Montlake Community Center at 3:45.

  • On Wednesdays (skiing - once we have enough snow) the van departs from Montlake at 4pm and returns to Seattle by 8:30pm

  • Weekend practices meet up at the Mercer Island Park and Ride at 8:00am and return by 3pm or earlier, depending on the skiing and the workout.

  • Participant Fee is $2500 for the entire season, this includes training transportation and coaching at all races and camps. The winter program is 16 weeks long.

  • You have the option to either pay all at once by November 15th, or in three payments of $834 due 11/15/17, 12/15/17, 1/15/18. We will invoice you via PayPal.

  • Participant fees include all coaching, transportation to and from team meet up locations, plus wax and logistical support at races. Race Trip Expenses, however, are not part of our participant fees, since not everyone goes to all races.

  • During JNQ race weekends, practices will not be held. We instead encourage any and all skiers to join the team at such races.

Momentum has no registration fee, and no equipment fee. Uniforms are optional and more information regarding equipment is below. We strongly encourage all winter participants to attend the Silver Star Thanksgiving Camp for early season skiing. More information on this camp can be found on the Thanksgiving Camp page

Skiers are expected to provide their own skis, boots, and poles for both Classic and Skate techniques. We can recommend shops to rent or buy from. We have a small inventory from which we can outfit those who do not currently have the resources to rent or own.

While we provide wax support for races, we ask that all skiers take care of their own skis for practices and storage. Our coaches are more than happy to talk with you about the finer points of wax, and about what you may need for the upcoming season.
